VÍB meeting: Martin Wolf from FT on Iceland – economic recovery or policy crisis?
Martin Wolf, chief economics commentator at the Financial Times, will discuss the economic situation in Iceland at a VÍB, the wealth management division of Íslandsbanki, meeting tonight at 8 PM, Icelandic time. The meeting will be webcasted at vib.is.
The topic of the meeting is Iceland - economic recovery or policy crisis? Is Iceland well on its way out of the economic crisis or is it necessary to change the economic policy to accelerate the recovery?
Martin Wolf, along with three Icelandic speakers, will discuss these matters as well as key questions facing Iceland, for example whether to join the European Union, how to abolish the currency controls and how to handle foreign direct investments.
Other speakers at the meeting are Vilhjálmur Egilsson, CEO of Confederation of Employers, Dr. Katrín Ólafsdóttir, an assistant professor at the University of Reykjavík and Heiðar Már Guðjónsson, investor.
Martin Wolf is considered on the most influential journalist and writer on economic related issues in the world. He is a member of the UK government´s Independent Commission on banking which will formulate policy recommendations to reduce systematic risk in the banking system. Mr. Wolf is also an honorary fellow at Oxnia, Oxford Institute for Economic Policy.
