Akur, new private equity fund VÍB and Íslandssjóða
VÍB, Íslandsbanki´s asset management and Íslandssjóðir, have founded Akur, a new private equity fund which will be an active owner of stakes in unlisted companies. The new fund will have approximately 10 billion ISK investment capacities. Íslandsbanki will hold approximately 10% stake in Akur.
The managing director of Akur is Jóhannes Hauksson, which has been MD of Corporate Solutions at Íslandsbanki and investment manager is Davíð Hreiðar Stefánsson.
„We see good investment opportunities due to current situation in the markets and further development of Icelandic economy. Akur will focus on investments in companies which have potential to grow further and companies which can be listed in the near future,” says Jóhannes Hauksson, managing director of Akur.
Jóhannes Hauksson holds a B.S. in Business from University of Iceland. Prior he was MD of Corporate Solutions at Íslandsbanki. Jóhannes sat on the board of Geysir Green Energy, Jarðboranir as well as several holding companies set up around assets taken by the bank as a part of restructuring or collection of collateral. Jóhannes has been worked as a credit and Business Manager as well as in International banking and Corporate Banking within Íslandsbanki.
Davíð Hreiðar Stefánsson is Akur´s investment manager. He holds a MBA degree from Winthrop University and a B.S. degree in Finance from the same University. Davíð has worked in Corporate Solutions of Íslandsbanki. Prior he worked in Equity Investments of Íslandsbanki and Corporate Finance of Íslandsbanki in London.
