Íslandsbanki launches the Islandsbanki American Express® Card in Iceland


Íslandsbanki, has announced the launch of the Islandsbanki American Express® Card in Iceland in co-operation with American Express. Íslandsbanki is the largest issuer of payment cards in Iceland and the new American Express Charge Card is ideal for those customers seeking a product which offers value and an ability to earn rewards on spend.

Islandsbanki American Express Cardmembers are automatically enrolled in the Íslandsbanki loyalty club where they can earn 14 Islandsbanki points for every 1000 ISK spent, making it the highest earning card in the club. Cardmembers can also earn 5 x points when using their Card at selected merchants.

As members of Vildarklúbbur Íslandsbanka loyalty club, American Express Cardmembers have the flexibilty to redeem their Islandsbanki points in various ways. Cardmembers can have their points paid in cash, transferred to their Íslandsbanki savings account, or exchanged for Travelchecks or Travelling points of Icelandair. Íslandsbanka points can also be redeemed as a charitable donation. In addition, the Islandsbanki American Express Card offers Cardmembers extensive travel insurance which includes car rental insurance when travelling abroad, as well as purchase protections on spending. Cardmembers can also benefit from a partial annual fee waiver depending on the amount spent on the card in the first year*.
