Íslandsbanki has been recognised as exemplary in Good Corporate Governance

11.03.2014
The recognition is based on a thorough assessment of the conduct of the Board and management of the bank prepared by KPMG. According to the Centre for Corporate Governance at the University of Iceland, governance of Íslandsbanki gives a clear picture of the bank's corporate governance and suggests that they may in many respects serve as an example to other organizations,

The recognition in good corporate governance was granted following a formal evaluation process. The Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Icelandic Employers, Nasdaq OMX Iceland hf. and Centre for Corporate Governance at the University of Iceland teamed up to promote good corporate governance among Icelandic companies.

The institute bases its assessment mainly on whether the data indicates that the company follows the guidelines on Corporate Governance issued by the Chamber of Commerce, SA-Confederation of Icelandic Employers and NASDAQ OMX Iceland hf. The companies that pass the evaluation of the above criteria, are considered as model companies in corporate governance. The objective is the evaluation process besides credibility and transparency of corporate governance to shareholders and other stakeholders.
