Íslandsbanki sponsor of Startup Tourism

Startup Tourism is a new startup accelerator which is a cooperative project between Íslandsbanki, Blue Lagoon, Isavia and Vodafone. Klak Innovit will manage the program. The goal is to support innovation and entrepreneurship in the Icelandic tourism sector and in so doing contribute to the creation of jobs and value in Iceland.

Recent years have seen a steep increase in the number of foreign visitors travelling to Iceland. This has created challenges and opportunities for Icelanders. Improved infrastructure, private sector development and innovation is necessary to address these changes and create a sustainable future for tourism in Iceland.

Startup Tourism is a ten week business accelerator where up to ten startups are selected to develop their ideas under the guidance of experts in the field. The accelerator begins February 1st 2016 and is held in Reykjavík. The application deadline is January 6th, 2016 and the application form can be found at startuptourism.is.
