ÍSB Research macroeconomic forecast presented
Íslandsbanki presented ÍSB Research’s macroeconomic forecast for 2016-2018 at a well-attended breakfast meeting held at Harpa. According to the forecast, GDP growth is expected to measure 5.4% this year, Iceland’s strongest growth rate in a decade. Real wages are forecast to rise by 9.1%, driven by pay increases concurrent with modest inflation.
The meeting was convened by Tryggvi Björn Davíðsson, Director of Íslandsbanki’s Markets Division. Ingólfur Bender, Director of ÍSB Research, reviewed the economic outlook, and ÍSB Research economist Jón Bjarki Bentsson discussed exchange rate developments.
The meeting ended with panel discussions with the following participants:

- Helga Óskarsdóttir, fund manager at Íslandssjóðir
- Þórður Pálsson, head of Investments at Sjóvá
